Spend a day riding a horse on the DeGroff Ranch, a real "working" ranch. Phone: 308-547-2460.

Cowboy Trail - a spectacular railroad corridor turned into a 321 mile biking trail, running from Norfolk to Chadron. Highway 20 serves as a companion for most of the trail.

Brewster Fall Festival - held every year on the second weekend of September. The Fall Festival coincides with the first day of grouse and prairie chicken season. Willow Lake - Located 30 miles northwest of Brewster. Well known for its ice fishing and its outstanding perch.

Enjoy the beauty of Halsey National Forest and Nursery - 90,000 acres of gently rolling sandhills interspersed with 22,000 acres of man-planted trees. There are approximately 300 miles of sandy trails and camping is available at three separate campgrounds located throughout the forest. All campgrounds feature toilets and water.

Fort Hartsuff - This restored 1870s frontier fort is located 50 miles from Brewster, in Elyria, Neb., on a paved road where you can experience living history most summer weekends and holidays. The fort offers a picnic area for your enjoyment and is open year-round for self-guided tours. Nebraska's Big Rodeo - held 43 miles from Brewster, in Burwell, Neb., during the last weekend in July. Each performance of the annual rodeo offers professional rodeo (6 rodeo events), chuck wagon races, wild horse races, junior steer riding, one-armed bandit, bull riding, dinner bell derby, and world champion clowns, bucking stock, and contestants.

Calamus Dam and Fish Hatchery, 40 miles from Brewster in Taylor. The Calamus lake area offers:
